    PHNSYIMF History - Midway

This photo illustration honoring the Battle of Midway is part of a series of historical collage-style graphics created in Canva to depict and share our shipyard and workforce's impact made throughout history, May 27, 2025.

While plans were underway for the Battle of Midway, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard was called upon to rise to the challenge of quickly getting USS Yorktown (CV 5) seaworthy. Illustrating naval history in connection to Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard supports the DoW mission of preserving naval heritage and fostering pride in our service's history and communicates authentically to our audience why the mission is important to serving the nation.

PHNSY & IMF’s mission is to keep the Navy’s fleet “Fit to Fight” by repairing, maintaining, and modernizing the Navy's fast-attack submarines and surface ships. Strategically located in the heart of the Pacific, it is the most comprehensive fleet repair and maintenance facility between the U.S. West Coast and the Far East.
