KITTERY, Maine (Sept. 5, 2025) – This year marks the 120th anniversary of the Portsmouth Peace Conference, led by President Theodore Roosevelt, which concluded with the signing of the Portsmouth Peace Treaty on Sept. 5, 1905, at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. The treaty brought an end to the Russo-Japanese War of 1904–05 and earned Roosevelt the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in brokering peace. (U.S. Navy Graphic by Branden Bourque)
