Senior Drill Instructor Sgt. Alex Hernandez commented, "Herrin from start to finish showed that he was a leader, all about the platoon, and holding each of his fellow Marines accountable while maintaining a great level of tact at all times. He led by example and showed his brothers to the left and right of him what it is to be held at a high example and expectation. He is the example of what a well-rounded Marine should be.
