Meet your Defender, U.S. Army Spc. Edward Ayuyu is a 25B Information Technology Specialist assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. He is originally from the island of Saipan, part of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and joined the Army a month after graduating from high school. He joined the Army as a private and was promoted to a specialist in 18 months. His first sergeant nominated him due to his dedication and hard work from day one. He decided to go on active duty to pursue college benefits and travel worldwide, but after getting a taste of the Army and his job, he realized he wanted to make a career out of it. He is currently on his first deployment in Germany in direct support of Atlantic Resolve.
