Graphic reads "A Not So Traditional HAPPY THANKSGIVING; HAVE A SAFE HOLIDAY” The graphic is a photo of MRE packets, to include an MRE spoon, a canteen, canteen cup, and a USMC K-Bar neatly laid out onto a poncho liner. The main MRE package reads “NEW MENU!; MENU 0; MRE, KIND OF A TRADITIONAL THANKSGIVING DINNER; Best eaten by: 25 Nov 2021.” All other packages are labeled with somewhat traditional items found during Thanksgiving. The packets have separate labels that read “EVERY SPICE KNOWN TO MAN; IMINTATION BUTTER; DEVILED EGGS SAUCE; CARDBOARD CORN BREAD; BREAD CRUMBS, ADD TO STUFFING, WE FORGOT TO MIX IN; SWEET POTATO CRACKERS; ONLY MOIST NAPKIN YOU GET; TOBASSCO; INSTANT MASHED POTATOES, JUST ADD WATER & SQUEEZE SOME OF THAT BUTTER; WHOLE ROASTED TURKEY, FLATTENED; HAM ON BONE, WITH SOMEWHAT OF A GLAZE; GRANDMAS STUFFING, YES WE “ACQUIRED” HER RECIPE; GREEN BEAN & WEENIE CASSEROLE, (?); POWDERED MILK; OH YEAH!!! NECK BONE & GIBLET GRAVY; TASTERS CHOICE INSTANT COFFEE; KICK IT UP A NOTCH!; DEHYDRATED CRANBERRY SAUCE, JUST ADD WATER; MIXED VEGGIES DRINK MIX, ADD TO CANTEEN WITH WATER; PUMPKIN & APPLE PIE, BLENDED, MAY CONTAIN PIECES OF OTHER TYPES OF PIES; MACARONI & POWDERED CHEESE, ADD WATER & POWDERED MILK; GUESS, BECAUSE WE AREN’T TOO SURE EITHER; OVER THE SHOULDER SALT; DO NOT WORK IN THE WIND (on matches packet); and AFTER MEAL POO-POO PAPER.” This graphic was intended to be a satire of a traditional thanksgiving meal and was created in 2021 as part of Marine Corps Installations West, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton’s recognition of Thanksgiving Day.
