Visual Information Specialist Philip Foreman, with Defense Logistics Agency Installation Management - Columbus, recently designed a new commander's coin for DLA Weapons Support (Columbus) Commander Navy Rear Adm. Julie Treanor, who took command of then-DLA Land and Maritime in July of 2025.
Since then, DLA established DLA Weapons Support, a new major subordinate command, to streamline Class IX support into a unified demand and supply chain. This new command leverages the capabilities of both the former DLA Land and Maritime and DLA Aviation. DLA Weapons Support began initial operations on Oct. 1, 2025, with a target date for full operational capability of Oct. 1, 2026. The command operates across the two existing locations: DLA Weapons Support (Columbus) at Defense Supply Center Columbus in Ohio, commanded by Treanor, and DLA Weapons Support (Richmond) at Defense Supply Center Richmond in Virginia, commanded by Air Force. The commander's coin both celebrates the establishment of the new MSC and reflects Treanor's pride in serving as its first commander. The front of the coin features air, land, and sea weapon systems supported by the MSC, including the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), where Treanor served as a commissioning supply officer in 2017. The eagle with outstretched wings symbolizes readiness, reach and protection. CLIX, also known as repair parts, highlights DLA’s core mission to sustain readiness by delivering critical parts to keep the warfighter operational.
The back of the coin displays the American flag, the command flag – U.S. Navy Rear Admiral (Lower Half) flag for commanding ashore, the DLA emblem and a single ‘north star’ set against a globe background symbolizing DLA Weapon Support’s global reach and responsibility to the warfighter in every theater of operation. Treanor’s raised signature adds gravitas, authority and personal recognition and is a mark of trust, gratitude and distinguished service. Her personal tagline, “Keep Charging!” is a statement of drive, resilience and continued pursuit of excellence.
