Pfc. Daniel Avila, Spc. Kyle Hofer, Staff Sgt. Joseph Tully, Spc. Elijah Brady, and Sgt. Blake Bastien will represent the 173rd Combat Engineer Company, 173rd Airborne Brigade, during the U.S. Army Europe and Africa Best Squad Competition, held August 18–28, 2025, in Grafenwöhr, Germany. The annual competition brings together top squads from across the theater to test their tactical skills, cohesion, and warrior spirit.
The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army's Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces to the United States European, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility. Forward stationed in Italy and Germany, the brigade routinely trains alongside NATO allies and partners to build readiness and strengthen the alliance.
