On 25 March, we honor the extraordinary courage and selflessness of those awarded our nation’s highest military decoration—the Medal of Honor. Presented to service members who go above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in action against an enemy of the United States, the Medal of Honor represents unmatched valor, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment in the face of grave danger. It stands as the premier award within the U.S. military.
This Medal of Honor Day, the Office of Enterprise Management (OEM) pays tribute to these heroes and reflects on the values they embody—courage, patriotism, and sacrifice. Established during the Civil War and first awarded on 25 March 1863 to Private Jacob Parrott and the Andrew Raiders, the Medal of Honor remains a powerful symbol of service and devotion to our nation.
