The 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment (1-91 CAV) is the reconnaissance squadron of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, based in Grafenwöhr, Germany. Activated in 2006, it traces its lineage back to World War II cavalry reconnaissance units. Its mission is to provide the brigade with reconnaissance, surveillance, and security operations, often as the “eyes and ears” of the commander. Airborne-qualified, the squadron can rapidly deploy across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Its motto is “Alert and Secure.”
