April is designated as the Month of the Military Child, a time to recognize and celebrate the resilience, strength, and sacrifices of children in military families.

Military children often face unique challenges, including frequent moves, new schools, and periods of separation from their parents due to deployments. Despite these hurdles, they demonstrate incredible adaptability and courage. They are an integral part of our military community, contributing to the strength and spirit of our service members.

At Norfolk Naval Shipyard, we honor these young heroes. We recognize the important role they play in supporting their military parents and the sacrifices they make for our nation. Their unwavering spirit inspires us all.

We encourage everyone to wear purple this month to show support and appreciation for military children. Purple is the color that represents all branches of the military, combining Army green, Coast Guard blue, Air Force blue, Marine red, and Navy blue.

Join us in celebrating our military children – the silent heroes who serve alongside their families.
