Paratroopers assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade train alongside NATO allies during Swift Response 2025, a U.S. led, large-scale exercise focused on rapidly deploying airborne forces to respond to emerging crises. Taking place May 11–31 across Norway, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, and Finland, the exercise includes airborne insertions, High Mobility Artillery Rocket System Rapid Infiltration (HIRAIN), field hospital operations, and live-fire missions—demonstrating interoperability and readiness across the NATO network as part of the DEFENDER 25 series.
The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army’s Contingency Response Force in Europe, capable of rapid deployment across U.S. European, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility. Stationed across Italy and Germany, the brigade trains regularly with NATO allies and partners to strengthen collective defense and enhance interoperability.
