Senior Drill Instructor Sgt. Tyler Masters commented, "King from the beginning showed maturity and had a sense of urgency to push and mentor the other recruits. King started off as a squad leader and throughout recruit training he progressed to become the guide. While being the guide, he led his fellow recruits with firmness and fairness, never being the one to push blame off to someone else. He took full responsibility for the platoon and their actions, which embodies the values of a non-commissioned officer."
