Canine allogenic freeze-dried plasma (cFDP) is a readily available, shelf-stable, lifesaving blood product for treating trauma-induced severe blood loss in Military Working Dogs (MWDs) in theater. cFDP will improve blood product availability at or near the point of injury, maximizing the survival of canine casualties and allowing critical operations to continue. The Defense Health Agency’s Operational Medical Systems Program Management Office is the DoD’s leading force in medical development and acquisition, focused on enhancing Warfighter lethality and readiness. OPMED’s project management teams develop and deliver next-generation, world-class medical capabilities that empower combatant commanders in Large-Scale Combat Operations, particularly within austere environments.
