A boot display to honor those lost during service is a part of the 2022 Gold Star Families’ Retreat which took place at Camp Dawson, W.Va. September 23-25. The Gold Star Families’ retreat is hosted each year by the WVNG to honor the service and sacrifice of Gold Star Families - those whose family member had died in the course of military service. This was the first retreat since 2019, due to COVID-19.
