This infographic was created using Adobe Photoshop to highlight U.S. Marines who demonstrate unwavering selflessness in the line of duty while assigned to 1st Marine Division, created at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Aug. 25, 2026. At the time, Sgt. John Basilone served with 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st MARDIV, in 1942. He displayed extraordinary courage during the Battle of Guadalcanal. His actions under fire earned him the Medal of Honor and cemented his legacy as one of the Marine Corps’ most decorated heroes.
