BREMERTON, Washington (Feb. 22, 2017) Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Equipment) Airman Cody Rubalcava, from Los Angeles, and Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Equipment) 3rd Class Charles Breeden, from Cocoa Beach, Florida, performs corrective maintenance on a shiv damper, used to reduce the amount of force applied to an arresting wire during an aircraft recovery, in an arresting gear machinery room onboard USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74). John C. Stennis is conducting a planned incremental availability (PIA) at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, during which the ship is undergoing scheduled maintenance and upgrades.
