NORFOLK (Dec. 30, 2016) Boatswain’s Mate 3rd Class Devonte Moore of Detroit, center, acts as a master helmsman by steering the guided-missile destroyer USS Mason (DDG 87) as it returns to homeport at Naval Station Norfolk with Gas Turbine System Technician (Electrical) Melanie Montalvo of Deltona, Fla., while Ensign Joseph Zinni of Brunswick, Maine, supervises. Mason, part of the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group, conducted a 7-month combat deployment in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operations.
