U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (March 11, 2017) An AS-332 Super Puma assigned to the dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Amelia Earhart (T-AKE 6), carries supplies to the amphibious dock landing ship USS Comstock (LSD 45) while the amphibious dock landing ship USS Somerset (LPD 25) sails in the distance. Comstock and Somerset are deployed as part of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations designed to reassure allies and partners, and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
