Staff Sgt. Jason R. Seifert, representing the National Capital Region, checks his radio before the start of the day land navigation test Oct. 3, at Fort Lee, Va. Seifert and 11 other non-commissioned officers are competing for the title of Department of the Army Best Warrior. The 12 NCOs and an additional 12 Soldiers will spend this week at Fort Lee competing in events such as the board, weapons and warrior tasks. The winners will be announced at a ceremony, Oct. 8, in the District of Columbia. Seifert is currently assigned as an infantryman for the 3rd Battalion, 3rd U.S. Infantry (The Old Guard), located at Fort McNair in the District of Columbia. He hails from Farmington, N.Y.
