Spc. Stephen D. Lester, representing the National Capital Region, puts together a .50-caliber weapon as part of the common tasks test, Oct. 4, at Fort Lee, Va. Lester and 11 other Soldiers are competing for the title of Department of the Army Best Warrior. The 12 Soldiers and an additional 12 non-commissioned oficers will spend this week at Fort Lee competing in events such as the board, weapons, land navigation and warrior tasks. The winners will be announced at a ceremony, Oct. 8, in the District of Columbia. Lester is currently assigned as a military policeman in the 269th Military Police Company, 3rd U.S. Infantry (The Old Guard), located at Fort Myer, Va. Lester, who hails from Jefferson, N.C., has served in the Army for three years.
