Pfc. Patrick Ray D. Murphy, representing U.S. Army Central, calls in a nine-line MEDEVAC as part of the common tasks test, Oct. 4, at Fort Lee, Va. Murphy and 11 other Soldiers are competing for the title of Department of the Army Best Warrior. The 12 Soldiers and an additional 12 non-commissioned officers will spend this week at Fort Lee competing in events such as the board, weapons, land navigation and warrior tasks.The winners will be announced at a ceremony, Oct. 8, in the District of Columbia. Murphy is currently assigned as a topographic analyst in the 132nd Engineer Detachment located at Fort Gillem, Ga. He hails from Cottage Grove, Minn. Murphy has served in the Army for a year-and-a-half and is the youngest Soldier in the competition.
