Spc. Stephen D. Lester, representing the National Capital Region, hurries to his next battle drill station to fire at targets in a battle drill as part of the weapons qualification test Oct. 4, at Fort Lee, Va. Lester and 11 other Soldiers are competing for the title of Department of the Army Best Warrior. The 12 Soldiers and an additional 12 NCOs will spend this week at Fort Lee competing in events such as the board, land navigation and warrior tasks. The winners will be announced at a ceremony, Oct. 8, in the District of Columbia. Lester, who hails from Jefferson, N.C., is currently assigned as a military police in the 289th Military Police Company, 3rd U.S. Infantry (The Old Guard) located at Fort Myer, Va. Lester has served in the Army for three years.
