Sgt. Patrick J. Mann, representing Space and Missile Defense Command, looks at notes taken from a local about the security around the perimeter as part of the commont task tests, Oct. 4, at Fort Lee, Va. Mann and 11 other non-commissioned officers are competing for the title of Department of the Army Best Warrior. The 12 NCOs and an additional 12 Soldiers will spend this week at Fort Lee competing in events such as the board, weapons, land navigation and . The winners will be announced at a ceremony, Oct. 8, in the District of Columbia. Mann, who hails from Rib Lake, Wis., is currently assigned as a satellite communications network coordinator in the 53rd Signal Battalion, 1st Space Brigade, located at Landsthul, Germany. Last year, Mann competed in the Soldier category of the Best Warrior competition.
