Pfc. Patrick Ray D. Murphy, representing U.S. Army Central, hurries to his next battle drill station to fire at targets in a battle drill as part of the weapons qualification test Oct. 4, at Fort Lee, Va. Murphy and 11 other Soldiers are competing for the title of Department of the Army Best Warrior. The 12 Soldiers and an additional 12 non-commisioned officers will spend this week at Fort Lee competing in events such as the board, land navigation and warrior tasks. The winners will be announced at a ceremony, Oct. 8, in the District of Columbia. Murphy is currently assigned as a topographic analyst in the 132nd Engineer Detachment located at Fort Gillem, Ga. Murphy, who hails from Cottage Grove, Minn., has served in the Army for almost two years.
