Staff Sgt. Russell A. Burnham, representing U.S. Army Medical Command, hurries to his next battle drill station to fire at targets in a battle drill as part of the weapons qualification test, Oct. 4, at Fort Lee, Va. Burnham and 11 other non-commissioned officers are competing for the title of Department of the Army Best Warrior. The 12 NCOs and an additional 12 Soldiers will spend this week at Fort Lee competing in events such as the board, land navigation and warrior tasks. The winners will be announced at a ceremony, Oct. 8, in the District of Columbia. Burnham is currently assigned as a healthcare specialist in the 32nd Medical Brigade located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He hails from Tucson, Ariz. Burnham has served in the Army for six years. He was named the Department of the Army Soldier of the Year in 2003.
