CLEVELAND — Rear Adm. Russell Dash, Coast Guard Great Lakes District Commander, and Master Chief Petty Officer Christopher Mullins, Great Lakes District Command Master Chief, recognized the service of Alan Johnston, one of the Coast Guard’s final lamplighters, at his memorial service in Warroad, Minn., Thursday.

to the Cheboygan Lock and Dam Complex. However, due to heavy water outflow from local
snowmelt and rainfall, mariners are advised to transit with caution and maintain awareness of
advisories issued by local and state emergency agencies.
In accordance with 33 Code of Federal Regulations 165.944, Coast Guard Sector Northern Great Lakes is set to open the South Channel in the Straits of Mackinac at noon on April 19, 2026.
