A U.S. Air National Guard Civil Engineer engages a simulated threat during ground combat training at Patriot Forge II at Ft. Devens Army Reserve Training Area, Aug. 13, 2026. During the exercise, ANG civil engineers practiced tangible, cross-functional combat skills with a focus on tactical medicine, convoy operations, and infantry tasks to make them more lethal and survivable. The Prime Base Engineer Emergency Force training served to enable the projection and recovery of airpower beyond the Main Operating Base by providing combat support, base-level utility maintenance, and emergency response capabilities.
