A U.S. Air National Guard Civil Engineer maintains a defensive position behind cover during ground combat training at Patriot Forge II at Ft. Devens Army Reserve Training Area, Massachusetts, Aug. 12, 2026. During the exercise, ANG civil engineers practiced tangible, cross-functional combat skills with a focus on tactical medicine, convoy operations, and infantry tasks to make them more lethal and survivable. During the exercise, Airmen demonstrated proficiency in basic expeditionary skills, ground combat skills, combat vehicle operations, land navigation, and integrated base defense.
