--On Thursday NATO leaders signed off on key decisions, including an invitation to Finland and Sweden to join NATO, a fundamental strengthening of NATO’s deterrence and defense, and long-term support for Ukraine. --
--The Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge, flagship of the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group, arrived in Brest, France, on Thursday to complete scheduled maintenance and to continue strengthening relations with NATO allies. --
--At the beginning of the NATO Summit in Madrid on Friday, President Joe Biden announced moves that will enlarge the U.S. troop presence in Europe and strengthen the NATO alliance. In preparation, military leaders in Austin, Texas placed thousands of U.S. troops designated for NATO's Rapid Reaction Force on heightened alert for possible deployment to Europe. --
