171129-N-XN177-083 YOKOSUKA, Japan – Sailors and members of the Japanese Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF) respond to an active shooter drill as part of Guard and Protect on board Fleet Activities (FLEACT) Yokosuka. Guard and Protect is an annual force protection exercise designed to strengthen the relationship and interoperability between the U.S. Navy and Japanese Self Defense Force. FLEACT Yokosuka provides, maintains, and operates base facilities and services in support of 7th Fleet’s forward-deployed naval forces, 71 tenant commands, and 24,000 military and civilian personnel.
