Lieutenant Colonel Gregory J. Summa, right, addresses Capt. Taylor Zehrung and Capt. Robert Reddy during a patching ceremony aboard Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, Feb. 24. The Marines were the first pilots to be fully trained on the F-35B Lightning II right out of flight school. Most F-35 pilots transition from another aircraft system to the F-35. Summa is the commanding officer of Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 501, Marine Aircraft Group 31, and the pilots are with VMFAT-501, MAG-31.
