U.S. Army Sgt. Ross Storm, left, and U.S. Army Pfc. Joanna Gonzalez, right, both military police officers assigned to the 603rd Military Police Company, 109th Military Police Battalion, put on blindfolds during the race portion of the Dark Knight competition held at Ādaži Military Base, Latvia, Sept. 10, 2026. The six-station race tests teams’ ability to adapt, communicate and work cohesively as they navigate physical, technical and tactical challenges while gathering clues needed to decipher the final objective. The medical station tested each team’s communication and mutual trust by making two blindfolded Soldiers rely on the verbal instruction of their teammate as they loaded a simulated casualty onto a litter and carried it approximately 50 yards. V Corps is the U.S. Army's only forward-deployed corps, serving as the senior tactical headquarters for Army forces in Eastern Europe to deter conflict and provide combat-ready forces alongside our NATO Allies. V Corps is operationalizing and expanding the Eastern Flank Deterrence Initiative with Allies, rapidly integrating emerging technologies into training and tactical plans. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt.
