To say that graduating from Kwajalein High School is intimate is an understatement. One at a time seniors make their way down the aisle each with just a candle as they move to their spot on the stage. The Multipurpose room is filled to capacity with family, friends and staff, while all others watch on outside on a large projected screen and online. The quaint ceremony continues as the rotational MCs of the class introduce each senior as they showed up on Kwaj, some as far back as kindergarten and in some cases those that left and returned. After a quick change of clothing the class performed a Marshallese traditional dance then quickly worked through another wardrobe change while KHS Principal Dr. Matt Garber gives his address. Upon completion of the dance the students flow into the crowd leis in hand to give to family members and other loved ones. Parents and students begin to feel the weight of the moment that comes with each hug. The formal portion ends with the all-important presenting of each student's diploma as they are handed to them with a firm handshake and a smile from U.S. Army Garrison Commander, Col. Andrew Morgan followed by a handshake from Command Sergeant Major Ernest Miller. Following the ceremony the class gathered in the KHS courtyard to receive congratulatory hugs and greetings from family and community alike. Congratulations to the Class of 2025!!!
