Alan Turing, an English mathematician said to be the “father of theoretical computer science,” conceptualized the term algorithm to solve mathematical problems and test machine intelligence. Not long after, the very first AI chatbot, called ELIZA, was released in 1966. However, it was the generative pre-trained transformer (GPT) model, first introduced in 2018, that provided the foundation for modern AI chatbots.
