TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. — Today the 23d Wing launched Mosaic Tiger 26-1, a combat readiness exercise based out Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, Nov. 12–21, 2025.
Spanning operations across Tyndall AFB, Avon Park Air Force Range, Florida, and Moody AFB, Georgia, the event brings together attack, rescue and support elements to prove the wing’s ability to generate, sustain and command airpower across multiple dispersed, austere and contested locations while battling degraded communications.
“This is more than an exercise; it is a demonstration of how we project combat power anytime, anywhere,” said Col. Sean Hall, 23d WG commander. “Despite disrupted communications, our Airmen are laser-focused on protection, sustainment and delivering airpower in support of the combatant commander’s intent.
Rooted in Agile Combat Employment principles, the scenario-driven exercise tests how Airmen perform under contested conditions that mirror future conflict environments. The training includes executing Integrated Combat Turns – rapid rearming and refueling of aircraft – establishing a forward operating site, and maintaining operations from contingency locations to demonstrate distributed mission execution and adaptability.
A key feature of Mosaic Tiger 26-1 is the activation of the 23d Combat Air Base Squadron, whose Airmen establish forward sites and provide the base defense, logistics and communications capabilities essential for sustained operations. “Every Airman in the squadron is tackling tasks that normally wouldn’t fall in their wheelhouse,” said Lt. Col. Justin May, 23d CABS commander. “Whether it’s building plans, developing physical training programs or creating professional development initiatives focused on leadership and mission command. It is an all-hands-on-deck effort, and no single person can take credit for everything that CABS has and will accomplish.”
Throughout the event, Moody’s Multi-Capable Airmen perform cross-functional tasks outside their core specialties, maintaining aircraft, establishing communications and defending base perimeters to ensure flexibility and operational continuity in resource-limited or degraded environments.
The exercise reinforces the 23rd Wing’s focus on readiness, teamwork, and mission command through decentralized decision-making. Each scenario pushes Airmen to adapt, innovate and lead, aligning with Air Combat Command’s priority to deliver agile, combat-credible forces prepared for future challenges.
“Mosaic Tiger 26-1 gives us the opportunity to build readiness in a dynamic and challenging environment,” Hall said. “Every Airman is part of the solution, and with every mission, the Flying Tigers become more prepared to fight and win whenever we are called.”
