    U.S. Army Pfc. Gage Leavitt, a corrections and detention specialist assigned to the 603rd Military Police Company, 109th Military Police Battalion, ejects the magazine from his M17 pistol during the range operations portion of the 603rd Dark Knight competition at Ādaži Military Base, Latvia, Sept. 8, 2026. Participants in the competition were graded on their ability to neutralize targets accurately and efficiently through a series of different engagements. V Corps is the U.S. Army's only forward-deployed corps, serving as the senior tactical headquarters for Army forces in Eastern Europe to deter conflict and provide combat-ready forces alongside our NATO allies. V Corps is operationalizing and expanding the Eastern Flank Deterrence Initiative with Allies, rapidly integrating emerging technologies into training and tactical plans.
