    U.S. Army Pfc. Mubashir Aweda, a military police officer assigned to the 603rd Military Police Company, 109th Military Police Battalion, fires a Sig Sauer M17 pistol during the range qualification portion of the 603rd Dark Knight competition held at Ādaži Military Base, Latvia, Sept. 8, 2026. The M17 range requires Soldiers to demonstrate consistent weapons proficiency while managing the residual fatigue from the previous day’s physically demanding events. V Corps is the U.S. Army's only forward-deployed corps, serving as the senior tactical headquarters for Army forces in Eastern Europe to deter conflict and provide combat-ready forces alongside our NATO Allies.
