    U.S. Army Sgt. Mackenzie Sullivan, a military police officer assigned to the 603rd Military Police Company, 109th Military Police Battalion, aims and fires an M4 carbine downrange after moving to cover during the range qualification portion of the 603rd Dark Knight competition held at Ādaži Military Base, Latvia, Sept. 8, 2026. The Dark Knight competitors moved downrange while engaging targets with their sidearms before transitioning to their rifles,challenging them to remain composed, maintain accuracy and demonstrate proficiency across multiple weapon systems under pressure. V Corps is the U.S. Army's only forward-deployed corps, serving as the senior tactical headquarters for Army forces in Eastern Europe to deter conflict and provide combat-ready forces alongside our NATO Allies.
