Jiu-jitsu is a martial art that employs holds, throws, and paralyzing blows to subdue opponents. The style practiced in the club is a no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jutsu style. A gi is a traditional uniform used in the practice of jiu-jitsu, but a no-gi style allows participants to practice in appropriate workout clothes and to focus on anatomical grips on an opponent instead of on grapples having to do with the uniform.

Hudson, a Naval Academy graduate, commissioned in 1999. During her 24-year career, she completed her residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth and worked at Walter Reed, Uniform Services University, SURFLANT, and Naval Medical Forces Atlantic. She has deployed once to Afghanistan and twice on USS Comfort, including a deployment during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hudson credits the length of her career to a love for serving.

USS Philippine Sea (CG 58) and USS Mason (DDG 87) engage a GQM-163, supersonic target, launched by the NASA’s Wallops Fight Facility in Virginia using AEGIS combat system and SM-2 missiles.
