Dr. Mital Patel (right, Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education in support of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research) presents a research poster at Military Health System Research Symposium 2026. Photo courtesy of MRDC HQ Public Affairs.
Dr. Patel’s poster features a study investigating the changes that occur in the brain, blood, and lungs following blast exposure. The research identified multiple parts of the systems that control the function of the brain, blood, and lungs which are affected significantly by blast exposure in two different animal models. Insights from cross-referencing the effects on these animal models offers insight into diagnostic and therapeutics targets for future blast exposure research.
