SAN DIEGO (Aug. 19, 2025) — Surgical teams with the Maxillofacial Restoration Program work simultaneously on the jaw and lower leg during a complex jaw-in-a-day procedure at Naval Medical Center San Diego. The coordinated, multi-site approach allows surgeons to remove the diseased portion of the patient’s jaw while more surgeons prepare the leg bone (fibula) that will be transplanted to reconstruct the patient’s jaw.
