SAN DIEGO (Aug. 19, 2025) — A surgeon with the Maxillofacial Restoration Program holds a custom 3D-printed cutting guide used to reconstruct a patient’s jaw during a complex jaw-in-a-day reconstruction at Naval Medical Center San Diego. The guide ensures the bone segments harvested from the patient’s leg bone (fibula) are cut with exact precision before being transplanted to rebuild the patient’s jaw. (DoW photo by Regena Kowitz)
