SAN DIEGO (Aug. 19, 2025) — Surgeons with the Maxillofacial Restoration Program position prepared fibula bone segments onto a custom surgical model during a jaw-in-a-day procedure at Naval Medical Center San Diego. The transplanted bone—shaped using a 3D-printed guide and secured with a titanium plate—will replace the diseased portion of the patient’s jaw in the same operation. (DoW photo by Regena Kowitz)
