PACIFIC OCEAN, At Sea (November 2, 2016) - Marines with Maritime Raid Force, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, fire their M4A1 rifles at downrange targets during a deck shoot conducted aboard the USS Makin Island (LHD 8) while afloat in the Pacific Ocean, Nov. 2, 2016. As part of the range, the Marines practiced maneuvering throughout cones during a shooting course to strengthen their ability to fire on targets while maintaining situational awareness of their surroundings. The 11th MEU, part of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility in support security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
