Fort Eustis, Va. (Aug. 14, 2023) - U.S. Naval Sea Cadets, from various states along the eastern seaboard, spend the week with Military Sealift Command July 24-28 visiting MSC Training Center Hampton Roads at Joint Base Langley-Fort Eustis. During their weeklong visit, the 18 Sea Cadets experienced what it’s like to drive an Expeditionary Fast Transport vessel in the EPF simulator, learned how to combat flooding and fire aboard a ship in the Damage Control Wet Trainer, and participated in other training evolutions, such as Search and Rescue Swimmer and Ship Reaction Force Training. I recently had the opportunity to meet with Rick Dyksterhouse, Military Sealift Command’s new Training Program Manager, to discuss the professional development opportunities available for MSC Teammates. Many of you will remember Dyksterhouse from his recent time as MSC’s Command Master Chief. Here are some of the highlights from our conversation.
