In response to the rising threat posed by drones, NATO is testing integrated systems that will help detect, track and neutralise aerial threats, strengthening the Alliance’s deterrence and defence posture.
In Latvia, soldiers from the Multinational Artillery Battalion practised counter-UAS (uncrewed aerial system) tactics with electronic warfare and conventional weapons. The exercise demonstrated the NATO Multinational Brigade Latvia’s ability to jam and destroy wireless drones in a controlled manner.
The brigade is part of NATO’s Forward Land Forces, which consist of eight multinational battlegroups located in member countries along the eastern flank.
