An Icelandic Coast Guard Airbus H225 Super Puma flies during an artificial mass casualty scenario as part of exercise Northern Viking 26 in Iceland, Aug. 30, 2026. Icelandic Coast Guard aircrews supported training with U.S. Air Force pararescuemen assigned to the 38th Rescue Squadron and Icelandic search and rescue personnel assigned to the Suðurnes Rescue Team to practice casualty recovery and medical evacuation procedures. The Arctic and North Atlantic are critical to collective security, and realistic training helps participating forces remain prepared to respond rapidly to emergencies throughout the region.
