A U.S. Air Force pararescuemen assigned to the 38th Rescue Squadron, Moody Air Force Base, Georgia, transports a simulated casualty to Icelandic emergency medical personnel during an artificial mass casualty scenario as part of exercise Northern Viking 26 at Keflavík Air Base, Iceland, Aug. 30, 2026. NV26 allows U.S. and Icelandic responders to practice casualty recovery, assessment and transfer of care between rescue and medical teams. Practicing these procedures together builds cohesion and improves the ability of participating organizations to rapidly respond to real-world emergencies in the High North.
