An Icelandic Coast Guard aircrew member conducts flight operations aboard an Airbus H225 Super Puma during an artificial mass casualty scenario as part of exercise Northern Viking 26 over Iceland, Aug. 30, 2026. The practice scenario allowed Icelandic Coast Guard aircrews to train alongside U.S. Air Force pararescuemen and the Icelandic Suðurnes Rescue Team in the terrain and environmental conditions of the High North. Familiarity with Operating in Arctic conditions strengthens readiness and helps participating forces remain fast, mobile and prepared to respond wherever needed.
