FUJINOMIYA, Japan (Aug. 4, 2026) –The sun rises over the horizon behind a traditional Torii gate near the summit of Mount Fuji during a Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY) Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Outdoor Recreation climb, Aug. 4, 2026. Watching the sunrise from the top of Japan’s highest peak, known as Goraiko, is a central highlight of the overnight hike. CFAY provides, maintains, and operates base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleet's forward-deployed naval forces, 71 tenant commands, and more than 27,000 military and civilian personnel and their families.
